Agastya Yoga School was started on 1st January 2018, under the aegis of Mr. Vadadi Lokesh. Mr. Vadadi Lokesh has over 3 decades of experience in the field of physical education and is an expert in the art of Yoga apart from being a third degree black belt certified by the International Tae-kwon-do Federation.

Mr. Lokesh started practicing Tae-kwon-do at the tender age of 10 and over an illustrious career, spanning across 2 decades, he represented Delhi in National Championships and India at the International forum, winning several gold medals. He was also the coach of the Indian Tae-kwon-do team at the Asian Tae-kwon-do championships, held in Delhi 2006.

Mr. Lokesh today is the President of Delhi Tae-kwon-do federation. Years of martial arts training fostered a deep rooted discipline, commitment, perseverance and passion for physical fitness in him. These virtues helped him in learning the art of Yoga and after over a decade of unwavering commitment and practice, Mr. Lokesh is an expert Yoga practitioner. He seamlessly combines his martial arts and yoga experience and as a result his teaching methodology transcends much beyond physical fitness and aims to connect one’s physical and spiritual side. Agastya Yoga School teaches the ancient form of Yoga called Ashtang Yoga. Ashtang Yoga is a sanskrit word.’Asht’ means eight and ‘anga’ means components or limbs of Patanjali, of which ‘Yama’ should be the first branch ‘niyama’ should be the second branch. The third and fourth branch is ‘asana and pranayama’. The fifth branch is ‘pratyahara’ and sixth branch is ‘dharna’. Where the seventh and eight branch is ‘ dhyana and samadhi’. The school today aims to cater to people from all background and conducts classes for working professionals, house makers and senior citizens. Apart from this the school also conducts special sessions for kids on weekends, corporate programs. Having himself benefited from embarking on the path of physical fitness at an early age, Mr. Lokesh is especially passionate about working with kids to channelize their zeal, intellectual and emotional intelligence in the right direction. The school also conducts free sessions over the weekends for Meditation/ Tratak and Yoga therapy sessions.

The school’s aim is to spread awareness of mental and physical fitness and contribute towards making a Fit India!

Ashtang Yoga

Maharishi Patanjali was not the originator of yoga but he was the creator of Ashtang yoga.
Ashtang yoga is a Sanskrit word. “asht” means “eight” and “anga” means components or parts or limbs or branches of yoga sutra of patanjali, of which “yama’ should be the first branch ‘niyama’ should be the second branch and “asana” or physical yoga posture is merely the third branch and “pranayama’ is fourth and “pratyahar” is fifth branch, “ dharna’ should be the sixth and “ dhyan and Samadhi” should be the seventh and eight branch.

Ashtanga yoga literally means "eight-limbed yoga," as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. According to Patanjali, the path of internal purification for revealing the Universal Self consists of the following eight spiritual practices:
